NIGERIA OUR GREAT NATION

Hello beautiful people, I was travelling with a friend some days back and had to stop over at a filling station, there was a queue and the usual scampering with everybody trying to be smart enough not to allow anybody jump the queue. Then this man came through the exit gate and parked right in front of the dispensing pump, of course he was challenged and the manager of the station came forth to defend him saying he was the one that permitted him. There was a little agitation and the man who jumped the queue was forced to talk: the painful thing was what he was able to produce in defense of his actions: he said;
…….’’if you were the one whose brother is the manager of the station wont you do the same thing?” He went on to take note of the plate number of one of the cars whose driver was kicking against his actions, we later found out he was a road safety officer. This got everyone hyper angry and shouting ‘‘this is what is spoiling this country’’ and I said to myself…..well Nigerians have realized the root of our problems as a nation. With this thought in mind about our beloved nation I decided to share this little piece…..

NIGERIA
A land flowing with milk and honey
A nation so blessed with riches,
yet scarred with poverty and violence
The reason I see is our large diversity which has led to discord, greed and hatred
But check!
Our diversity should be a basis for our strength, not weakness
We may speak different languages but we all belong to the same great nation

NIGERIA
Arise o compatriots
Nigeria’s call obey
Its time for a change
If Nigeria fails then we who are Nigerians have failed
We are Nigeria and Nigeria is us
Together let’s make a change
If we dare to…..we can

The change we need as a country is not all about the government, it starts from the home, our moral values, mentality and perspective towards life.
Come to think of it, the government is all of us who are Nigerians therefore it is important for us all to work together to build a glorious nation.
Once again I say, we can if we dare to.
GOD BLESS NIGERIA!

Note: write up about Nigeria was composed during my NYSC days 4 years ago and has no political affiliation whatsoever.
